TangoNet® for Universities
Where and when does TangoNet® give the Best Learning Experience?
TangoNet® simulates the business of project-driven, professional services companies, employing highly qualified experts, who work in projects for clients in intense competition for both clients and talent, i.e. companies often labelled “knowledge-intensive”. Typical industries are professional services firms, high tech firms, IT firms and research organisations.

TangoNet® is developed for university programmes at both undergraduate and MBA levels. Because TangoNet® gives a close link to reality, it is an excellent complement to traditional lecture-based class-room education, but it can also be run as a stand-alone learning module. The simulation has a high “fun-factor” and thus adds both student motivation and an experiential dimension to theory. The experiences become sources for rich reflection and lively discussions among the students.

The TangoNet® simulation is particularly well-suited in conjunction with learning modules on Customer Relationship Management, Project Management, Management of Knowledge Work(ers), Human Resource Management, Knowledge Management, Management Accounting, Measuring and Reporting Intangibles Intellectual Capital, Strategy for non-manufacturing companies and Strategy for knowledge-based companies.

It is recommended the simulation is broken up in modules interweaved with lectures and debriefs for best learning experience. TangoNet® features up to 36 iterations (=12 “quarters” * 3 “months”) and the scenario sessions typically cover four to six “quarters”. Expect each scenario session to cover between three and four hours of play, excluding debrief.

Students should start to play against the computer AI (Artificial Intelligence), then gradually “mature” to play against their fellow students via the Internet. Estimate three sessions with 12 hours of play to be the minimum for making the simulation meaningful as a learning tool. The scenarios and suggested exercises in the Professor’s support material cover more than 36 hours of action packed learning.
